Convex Agent Skills: invoke skills for common Convex workflows

Best for common Convex workflow tasks; install get-convex/agent-skills first, let the top-level convex skill route you, and confirm before auth setup because it changes the project.

Who this is for

Install this skill set only when you need an agent to handle common Convex workflows. The official top-level entry is convex: Top-level entry point for Convex work. Recommends installing Convex AI files, then routes to a more specific Convex skill.

It fits people already working with Convex who will let the top-level skill recommend first, then enter a specific flow. The body gives several invocation prefixes: Cursor, VS Code (GitHub Copilot), and Claude Code use /skill-name, Windsurf uses @skill-name, Codex (OpenAI) uses $skill-name. This compares invocation spellings; do not read it as support for only these products.

Finish a first try in 3 minutes

Use only this primary install command:

npx skills add get-convex/agent-skills

Precondition: the current task is a Convex workflow; you know the same page also has a --all variant, but do not use it the first time. Official text does not write an on-disk directory; do not invent a path.

After install, do a read-only check first; do not run auth setup. Confirm with the agent: what the top-level convex skill does, and which prefix to use in your current tool. Success means the agent restates recommends installing Convex AI files, then routes to a more specific Convex skill, and can name one of /skill-name, @skill-name, or $skill-name from the table. If the agent starts changing auth or writing Convex AI files that were never named, stop first.

Usage cases

Case 1: Start from the top-level convex entry. Invoke that skill first, let it recommend whether to install Convex AI files, then route to a more specific Convex skill. This may write files; before running, confirm you accept the file install it recommends. The page does not name those files—do not invent them; only ask the agent to recommend and route as in the original wording.

Case 2: Start auth setup. The official example is For example, to kick off auth setup in Cursor or Claude Code: /convex-setup-auth. This changes project auth-related content; confirm before invoking. Success means the agent starts auth setup with this already-written command, not a newly invented auth command. Other concrete skill names are not written in the body; do not add them.

Usage limits

The same section also writes npx skills add get-convex/agent-skills --all, with the note Install all skills. This is an optional variant, not the primary path for the first try.

Invocation prefixes change by tool; follow the table; do not spread one prefix across every environment.

Apart from convex and /convex-setup-auth, there are no other skill names. skill-name in the table is placeholder spelling, not a real installable name.

There are no secret-key steps or uninstall commands. Do not add database, deploy, or function names that were never written.
