design-doc-mermaid: draw Mermaid and design docs in Claude Code

For drawing activity diagrams or generating Mermaid from code. Clone into ~/.claude/skills the official way, show the diagram in the conversation first, then write a file.

Official source · design-doc-mermaid

Install

git clone https://github.com/SpillwaveSolutions/design-doc-mermaid.git

Who it is for

This fits people who want to draw Mermaid diagrams and write design documents in Claude Code. Officially: this is a powerful set of Claude Code skills that create Mermaid diagrams and design documents with on-demand loaded guides, diagrams generated from code, and Python tools.

It fits better if you already have a flow (for example sign-up plus email verification) or already have code and want to see a diagram first. It does not fit people who are not ready to clone the repository into ~/.claude/skills.

Before you start you must be able to use git clone and accept this one official hand-install path. Do not mix in another marketplace command on the first try.

First try in 3 minutes

Use only the clone install from the source. The first time, produce a diagram in the conversation; do not write a design document into the repository yet.

Prerequisites: this machine already has git, and Claude Code loads skills from ~/.claude/skills. The first time, do not overwrite production documents.

Install location: enter the skills directory first, then clone the official repository.

cd ~/.claude/skills
git clone https://github.com/SpillwaveSolutions/design-doc-mermaid.git

Official repository page:

Low-risk trigger: after install, use the source example sentence in the conversation: Create an activity diagram for user registration with email verification. First ask for Mermaid only in the conversation, with no file write. Officially SKILL.md is the main coordinator with a decision tree; if the assistant starts calling scripts that were never named, confirm the side effects first.

Success signal: ~/.claude/skills/design-doc-mermaid exists and contains SKILL.md, and Mermaid for an activity diagram appears in the conversation. If you will save it as a document, confirm the path before writing.

Usage examples

Example 1: Draw an activity diagram from the official sample. Tell the assistant Create an activity diagram for user registration with email verification. It fits people who want to describe a sign-up and email-verification flow. The evidence gives only this user sentence; it does not name a guide file. See the diagram in the conversation first, then decide whether to write it to disk.

Example 2: Generate a diagram from existing code. Official capabilities include code-to-diagram generation. It fits people who already have code and want to see a diagram first. The evidence does not say which languages are supported or whether source is changed. Generate read-only from your own code; if a Python tool will write a file, confirm the output location first.

Limits

The main path is cloning into ~/.claude/skills. The source also has skilz install SpillwaveSolutions_design-doc-mermaid/design-doc-mermaid. The first time, do not do both, and do not apply a marketplace command to an environment that was never written.

The only named file is SKILL.md (main coordinator, with a decision tree). Do not invent other guide names, script names, or skill paths.

On-demand loaded guides and Python tools are mentioned, but no inventory is given. Do not assume it will automatically install a Mermaid runtime or ship documents.

Officially this skill set is written only as a Claude Code skill; no steps are given for other environments.
