Install

npx skills add firebase/skills

Who it's for

Install this set of skills when you need an AI coding agent to understand and use Firebase more effectively. Official text: they are skills for AI coding agents, to help them understand and work with Firebase more effectively.

They are packaged instructions and scripts, used to extend agent capabilities, and they follow the Agent Skills format. They fit people who already have a Firebase-related task and want the agent to work from these notes. The body does not name a Firebase product or a console action, so do not come in expecting “one-click deploy of some service.”

First try in 3 minutes

Take only this main install command:

npx skills add firebase/skills

Prerequisite: you are using an AI coding agent, and the task is really about Firebase. The official text does not write a destination directory; do not invent a path. Note the repository name is firebase/agent-skills and the package name in the install command is firebase/skills; use both as written, do not rewrite them.

The first time, do not change project config and do not deploy. After install, have the agent check: what this set of skills is for, and in what format it is packaged. Success: the agent restates help them understand and work with Firebase more effectively, and can say packaged instructions and scripts, following the Agent Skills format. If the agent starts inventing unwritten Firebase product commands or config files, stop.

Use cases

Case 1: Have a coding agent work from the official notes on a Firebase task. Give it a problem that “needs understanding and changing Firebase-related code,” and ask it to say first, from the installed skill notes, how far it can help. Checkable: the reply stays at understand and work with Firebase, instead of inventing product names, script names, or deploy steps that never appear. The page gives no example repository; do not fill one in.

Case 2: Read this set of skills in the Agent Skills format. Skills are packaged instructions and scripts that extend agent capabilities. Open the format notes and check the spec these skills claim to follow, instead of assuming an unwritten runtime. Format page:

https://agentskills.io/home

Success: the agent can say clearly “instructions + scripts, used to extend the agent,” and does not turn generic concepts on the format page into Firebase-only commands.

Boundaries

The page also gives gemini extensions install, with the install address on its own line:

https://github.com/firebase/skills

That is another install spelling, not the main path of the first try; do not promote it to every agent.

There is no client list; do not write that only one tool is supported.

The body does not list concrete Firebase products, script filenames, or environment variables. Do not fill in unwritten deploy, secret, or rules files.

The license is Apache 2 License; details are at

Do not invent another installer or a skills/ directory.
