scripts/init-artifact.shWho it's for
Use web-artifacts-builder when you are making a complex, multi-component claude.ai HTML artifact and you need state management, routing, or shadcn/ui components. The stack is React, Tailwind CSS, and shadcn/ui. Do not use it for a simple single-file HTML/JSX artifact.
A better fit is when you accept React 18 + TypeScript + Vite + Parcel (bundling) + Tailwind CSS + shadcn/ui. The summary also mentions Node 18+ compatibility. The material does not list agent products. The official guide page is

First try in 3 minutes
The recommended first command is the init script; do not invent another load path:
scripts/init-artifact.sh
This command generates a frontend repository, so it writes to disk. Confirm the current directory may be initialized, then run. Success signal: editable frontend code was generated. Do not initialize without confirming the directory.
After init, do not bundle yet. Next, edit the generated code into your multi-component UI. For styling, avoid the “AI slop” the material names: no overly centered layouts, purple gradients, uniform rounded corners, or Inter. This is a reversible design constraint; before changing styles, look at the generated files and confirm you will not overwrite the structure you just wrote.
If you only want to check that the stack matches, you can stop at this check: continue only if you need state, routing, or shadcn/ui; if the target is single-file HTML, stop here and do not init.
Use cases
Case 1: Initialize and revise a stateful UI. First run scripts/init-artifact.sh, then edit the generated code. Done means the repository was generated and you changed generated files, not that you started an unnamed scaffold. Step four is to show it to the user, but the excerpt does not write a show command, so do not invent a previewer. Before showing, open the generated page locally and confirm.
Case 2: Pack the project into a shareable single file. The command is scripts/bundle-artifact.sh. It generates bundle.html, inlining JavaScript, CSS, and dependencies, ready to share as an artifact in a Claude conversation. Prerequisite: the project root must have index.html. This writes to disk: confirm the bundle.html path that will be overwritten, then pack. Done means a self-contained bundle.html appears at the root. If index.html is missing, do not assume the script will create it for you.
Boundaries
Only for complex, multi-component artifacts that need state/routing/shadcn/ui, not simple single-file HTML/JSX. The stack is fixed as React 18, TypeScript, Vite, Parcel, Tailwind, shadcn/ui. The pack output is bundle.html; the root must have index.html. Avoid excessive centering, purple gradients, uniform rounded corners, and Inter.
Do not invent an install path besides init and bundle. The material does not give a client list, and does not say which command a simple single file should switch to. Before overwriting bundle.html or initializing into a non-empty directory, confirm the side effects. Beyond these written four steps and style off-limits, this guide does not cover the rest.
