pinmy
Mobile field collaboration that pins voice, photos, video, text and sketches to plans, site media and IFC models.
About pinmy
pinmy is a mobile field documentation and collaboration tool for architecture, engineering, construction and operations teams. It anchors voice notes, photos, videos, text and sketches to a precise point on a PDF plan, site image, walkthrough video or IFC model, so the record retains its location and context. Each pin can become a threaded discussion with replies, reactions and resolution, while tags notify the relevant teammate. Voice notes are transcribed and kept with timestamps, authors and visual context, which supports end-of-day reporting without reconstructing events from chat threads or memory. Teams can use the same workflow for punch lists, quality checks, snagging, BIM coordination and telecom rollout records. The product runs on iPhone, iPad, Android and the web, and a Chrome extension can capture screenshots into pinmy. OCR for site photos and video annotation are premium features. A free plan is available without a card, and IFC pinning is available on every plan within the applicable plan limits.
Best for
Best use cases
Recording a defect with a voice note and photo at its exact plan location
Pinning an installation observation directly on a mobile IFC model
Building a structured end-of-day record from timestamped field pins
Compare before choosing
Keeps field discussion attached to a precise plan or model location instead of a general chat
Captures voice, photos, video, text and sketches in one location-based workflow
Runs across mobile and web, while premium capabilities and plan limits affect adoption
Features
Site issue documentation
Place voice, photo, text or video records directly on a plan so defects and observations retain their location.
BIM field coordination
Open a lightweight IFC model on a phone and pin field issues to the relevant part of the 3D building model.
Punch lists and reporting
Capture timestamped, attributed pins during a site walk and review the structured record for reports and follow-up.
Pros
- Location-specific pins keep field observations tied to the relevant plan, image, video moment or IFC model.
- Voice transcription, timestamps and author details reduce manual reconstruction when teams prepare daily records.
- Support for iOS, Android, web and a Chrome capture extension fits mixed-device field and office workflows.
Cons
- OCR on site photos and video annotation require premium access, increasing cost for teams that need those workflows.
- The free plan has usage limits, so larger or more active teams must check whether its capacity fits their projects.
- Teams must move issue discussions out of existing chat habits and into pin-based threads to gain a structured record.
