Friends & Fables is an AI-native role-playing platform for creating worlds and running text-based campaigns with Franz, its AI Game Master. Players can explore public worlds or build their own with maps, lore, characters, quests, branching outcomes, custom context, and campaign settings. The platform combines dynamic storytelling with tactical turn-based combat based on D&D 5e rules, including battlemaps, spells, abilities, monsters, inventory, travel, and relationships. Campaigns can be played solo or with friends, synchronously or asynchronously, across desktop, tablet, and mobile. Long-term memories help Franz retain campaign context, while text-to-speech and image generation add narration and visual material. The free plan supports up to 25 turns per day and three-player campaigns; paid subscriptions add unlimited standard turns, text-to-speech, larger parties, more mentions, larger custom blocks, and monthly bonus credits. Friends & Fables is in early access beta, so adopters should expect bugs, incomplete features, and potentially game-breaking changes while the two-person development team continues to update the product.
