npx skills add AminBlg/SimpleEnglishWho it is for
If you want a large language model to write technical documentation in clear English while following the discipline of ASD-STE100 Simplified Technical English, rather than becoming casually conversational, this skill is for you. The official description presents it as an agent skill.
It is for agents that read the Agent Skills standard, and it names several common products. Do not turn that list into an exclusive support scope. Install it first, then use a piece of your own technical writing for a rewrite; do not immediately overwrite documentation files in the repository. A safer approach is to review the rewrite in the conversation first, confirm that the tone and terminology are acceptable, and only then decide whether to write it to a file.
Complete your first try in 3 minutes
Use only the following official installation command:
npx skills add AminBlg/SimpleEnglish
Prerequisites: npx must already run on this machine, and the current agent must support Agent Skills. Installation changes the skill set. First ask the agent to repeat this command, then execute it after you confirm. Public text describes it as one folder with no dependencies; this page does not state the destination directory, so do not guess the path.
After installation, perform one check that does not modify documentation: confirm that the agent has recognized simple-english. This is the installation-side success signal.
A real rewrite produces new text. First specify a piece of technical writing that you are authorized to rewrite, ask the agent to repeat the paragraphs it is about to process, and then say:
rewrite this with simple-english
You can also ask it directly to write a technical explanation. Success signal: the returned sentences are shorter, the word choice is more constrained, and the original meaning is still covered. The public material provides no vocabulary list or checklist; for the first attempt, verify only that a rewrite comes back. If it is about to overwrite a file directly, stop it first.
Use cases
Case one: install the skill and confirm that it is present. After running npx skills add AminBlg/SimpleEnglish, check whether the agent recognizes simple-english. The page does not describe a graphical interface entry point; the instructions cover only this installation command and the statement that the skill has been recognized.
Case two: rewrite existing technical writing in clear English. The official usage is to ask for any technical writing, or to say rewrite this with simple-english. Confirm the source text first, then proceed. The page does not demonstrate a specific source passage, and you should not invent ASD-STE100 clause numbers. For this attempt, review the rewritten result in the conversation and do not automatically save over the original.
Boundaries of use
The only installation command is npx skills add AminBlg/SimpleEnglish. Do not invent a second primary installation path. It is intended for agents that read the Agent Skills standard; the named list is not an exclusive scope.
The public text says One folder, no dependencies, MIT. It provides no vocabulary list, rule entries, error codes, or uninstall steps. A rewrite produces new text; if it is to be written to a file, confirmation is required first. Do not interpret clear English as permission to reduce technical accuracy. The page provides no ASD-STE100 clause checklist; for the first attempt, do not fill in rule numbers or vocabulary from memory.
