Three.js Skills: Let Claude Code Load 3D Skills Automatically by Scenario

Suits dropping .claude/skills into a Claude Code project and generating a basic Three.js scene from one sentence; confirm before writing files, and have it state which skill it will load first.

Who it's for

This set of skills is aimed at people already using Claude Code who want Three.js fundamentals filled in automatically on request. It calls itself a curated set of skill files, intended for Claude Code to build 3D elements and interactive experiences. The page names only Claude Code, so don't extend it to agents that never appear there.

A better starting point is: your current project allows a .claude/skills directory, and you're ready to describe a disposable small scene in natural language. It is not a complete Three.js course, and it is not an online editor. If you just want to hand-write a render loop, or you don't plan to let Claude Code read skill files, the payoff is limited. There is no mandatory Three.js version or browser list given.

First try in 3 minutes

Prerequisite: work inside a Claude Code project. Only this main install path is kept: copy the .claude/skills directory into the current project. Don't list other ways of obtaining it side by side.

Once it's in place, Claude Code loads skills automatically from .claude/skills when a request matches. Trigger your first attempt with the original wording of the example, but don't write to disk yet:

Create a basic Three.js scene with a rotating cube

It says this loads threejs-fundamentals and generates boilerplate with correct renderer setup, an animation loop, and window resize handling. Writing code has side effects; first have it confirm it will load threejs-fundamentals and repeat back the file paths it will create, and only write after you agree. Don't overwrite an existing production page.

Success signal: Claude Code states that threejs-fundamentals has loaded and gives a basic scene containing the renderer, the animation loop, and resize handling. No default file name or required preview command is given; the evidence stops at "auto-load plus the boilerplate above".

Usage examples

Example 1: create a basic scene with a rotating cube. The example is exactly the request above, mapping to threejs-fundamentals. Good for verifying whether the skill is selected automatically. Ask for the structural explanation first, and generate files only after you confirm it's right. The page doesn't list required colors, camera parameters, or bundlers.

Example 2: load a lighting or model skill on request. It states that adding lighting and shadows loads threejs-lighting, and loading a GLTF model loads threejs-loaders. For the second attempt, do only one of these, for example "add lighting and shadows to the current scene"; have it declare which skill it will load first, then allow the code change. This page gives no GLTF file path or light parameters; without a model file, don't invent an asset address, and stop at "the skill name matches the request".

Boundaries

The capability stops at Three.js skill files for Claude Code plus automatic loading on request, such as creating a 3D scene, adding lighting and shadows, and loading GLTF. The first install only recognizes copying .claude/skills into the project. Don't write it up as working for every coding agent. Auto-loading depends on whether the request matches, and only the phrasing types above are demonstrated. Confirm the path before writing files. The page makes no promises about uninstall, version pinning, or performance metrics.
