BoltAI
A native Mac workspace for using more than 300 hosted and local AI models in one desktop app.
About BoltAI
BoltAI is a native macOS workspace for people who use several AI providers. More than 300 hosted and local models sit behind one desktop interface, alongside projects, multi-chat threads, conversation forks, reusable agents, document handling, and universal shortcuts. It runs on Intel and Apple Silicon Macs with macOS 13 or later. Bringing your own provider access reduces browser switching and lets you choose a model for each task. The BoltAI purchase does not include model usage. Provider accounts, API access, and usage charges remain separate. Pro is listed at $99 as a one-time purchase, covering two desktop activations, one mobile activation, 1GB of cloud storage, and a year of updates. Team Perpetual is $99 per seat with a five-seat minimum and 10GB shared storage. Either license lets you keep using the last eligible version after updates expire, but cloud sync pauses when support and updates lapse. Windows is still described as coming soon, so BoltAI currently suits Mac-centered workflows best.
Best for
Best use cases
Compare several model responses inside one project
Keep PDFs, screenshots, and related chats in a research workspace
Reuse agents for recurring writing or coding work
Compare before choosing
Compared with a single-provider client, model choice is broader but accounts and costs are more fragmented
Compared with browser chat, native shortcuts and project structure better suit desktop workflows
Compared with mandatory subscriptions, old versions remain usable, though continued cloud sync may require renewal
Features
Multi-provider workspace
Switch among 300+ models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Mistral, Azure, Bedrock, and supported local runtimes.
Native Mac workflow
A SwiftUI and AppKit desktop app with universal shortcuts and support for Intel and Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 13 or later.
Structured AI work
Projects, multi-chat threads, forks, and reusable agents keep longer research and production work organized.
Multimodal inputs
Work with documents and visual inputs such as PDFs and screenshots inside the desktop workspace.
Pros
- One native Mac interface switches among 300+ hosted and local models, reducing tool and tab changes.
- Perpetual licenses keep the last eligible version usable after updates expire, so renewal is not mandatory for local use.
- Projects, chat forks, reusable agents, and universal shortcuts support repeatable, longer-running workflows.
Cons
- The BoltAI license excludes model usage, so provider API costs and accounts require separate management.
- The current product is Mac-centered; Windows is still listed as coming soon, limiting mixed-platform teams.
- Cloud sync pauses when support and updates lapse, which can make renewal necessary for sync-dependent users.
