DoubleCloud
An archived managed data platform for ClickHouse, Kafka, Airflow, transfer workflows, and real-time dashboards.
About DoubleCloud
DoubleCloud was a managed data platform for open-source analytics services, now preserved as an archived site. It brought ClickHouse, Apache Kafka, Apache Airflow, data transfer, and real-time visualization into one environment on AWS or Google Cloud. DoubleCloud handled software updates, monitoring, logs, backups, recovery, scaling, high availability, and self-healing. Its no-code ELT engine synced data between systems, while BYOC placed supported resources in a customer-owned AWS account or Google Cloud project when data residency and network control mattered. Teams could automate the platform through a public API, tutorials, endpoint references, and SDK guidance for Python and Go. DoubleCloud has wound down operations, and the platform is no longer available for new deployments.
Best for
Best use cases
Consolidating ingestion, orchestration, storage, and dashboards in one managed platform
Automating analytics infrastructure through the public API and Python or Go SDK
Keeping data in a customer cloud while outsourcing backups and monitoring
Compare before choosing
Consider only as an archived reference because operations have wound down
Compare former usage-based charges, free bundled components, taxes, and currency conversion with active alternatives
Assess whether BYOC network control justified the added VPC administration
Features
Managed analytics stack
Run managed ClickHouse, Kafka, and Airflow services together for analytics workloads on AWS or Google Cloud.
Data integration and dashboards
Sync data with the no-code Transfer service and build real-time charts and dashboards with Visualization.
Bring your own cloud
Deploy supported clusters and transfers into an existing AWS account or Google Cloud project for data residency and network control.
Pros
- Managed maintenance covered updates, monitoring, backups, scaling, high availability, and recovery, reducing routine platform work.
- The platform combined ingestion, storage, orchestration, transfer, and visualization, which reduced the number of separate services in an analytics workflow.
- BYOC kept compute, storage, and data in the customer cloud while retaining managed backups, monitoring, logs, and related operations.
Cons
- DoubleCloud has wound down operations, so new teams cannot treat the archived product as an active vendor option.
- Usage-based billing began after the trial or a switch to paid service, and taxes plus currency conversion could raise the final cost.
- BYOC required customers to configure network elements such as VPCs, subnets, security groups, and load balancers, adding cloud administration work.
