The tool is based on the Real-ESRGAN super-resolution model to generate larger images from small sources, rather than simply stretching pixels. It can be used to improve everyday photos that are blurry, noisy, or show obvious JPEG compression artifacts. It also offers a Face Enhance option and supports output in JPG, PNG, or WEBP format. Note: upscaling cannot recover missing details from the original image—super resolution predicts pixels that "look plausible," and the new details may not match the original scene.
