About Scalebrowser

Scalebrowser is self-hosted browser infrastructure for AI agents. You run a daemon on your own machine; it creates browser profiles, launches them, and hands them to a driver — an agent, your own code, or existing scripts — running headless by default. Each profile's identity data comes from a configuration seed and persists across restarts, so websites keep seeing the same visitor. The agent layer trims page content to save tokens: the agent reads the full page once, then reads only the parts that change. The product exposes profile creation, launching, proxy assignment, and event streaming through the daemon's built-in HTTP API (110 paths under /v1), and also supports MCP, two SDKs, and direct CDP connections. Note: there is no hosted mode — profiles, the browser engine, and the database all live in a directory on the machine running the daemon, which you must back up yourself.

Best for

Developers and teams who need AI agents to operate web pages reliably
Technical users who need to run multiple browser instances concurrently for bulk tasks
Teams that want to deploy on their own hardware and keep full control of their browser environment

Best use cases

Run agents with a fixed browser identity for tasks that require revisiting the same site

Run large numbers of browser instances in parallel across multiple machines for bulk operations

Provide supporting tools for automation flows that need logins, CAPTCHAs, or email confirmation codes

Drive the browser via API or scripts instead of manually operating a GUI

Features

Persistent Identity

Each profile's identity data comes from a configuration seed and persists across restarts, so websites see the same visitor tomorrow, not a brand-new device.

HTTP API

The daemon ships with an HTTP API to create and launch profiles, assign proxies, and stream events, with 110 paths under /v1.

Multiple Access Methods

Supports MCP, two SDKs, and direct CDP, letting agents, your own code, or existing scripts drive the browser.

Token Budget

The agent reads the full page once, then reads only the parts that change — the official example is about 25.51 dollars for a 100-step operation.

Stored Logins & Mail Inbox

Each profile can store logins, passkeys, and cookies, plus an inbox for receiving email confirmation codes.

Manual Input & Recording

Supports manual input and CAPTCHA handling, and can generate detailed trails with screenshots and record screen videos.

Browser Engine Updates

Browser engine updates are included in the subscription.

Pros

  • Each profile's identity stays the same across restarts, so websites see the same visitor
  • The agent layer reads only the parts of a page that change, saving token overhead
  • Offers multiple access methods: HTTP API, MCP, SDKs, and CDP
  • Unlimited profiles, billed by the number of browsers running concurrently
  • Includes operational extras like CAPTCHA handling and screen recording

Cons

  • No hosted mode and no vendor intermediary browser: configuration, engine, and database all live on the machine running the daemon, and you must back up that directory yourself
  • Requires your own hardware — the official documentation lists it as one of three prerequisites, and it is not optional
  • A browser instance can only be open on one machine at a time (API error code 4012)

FAQ

No. Scalebrowser is self-hosted: you run the daemon on your own machine, and the configuration files, engine, and database are all in a local directory — backing up that directory backs up all your data.
Yes. The daemon ships with an HTTP API that supports Bearer token authentication, with 110 paths under /v1. It also supports MCP, two SDKs, and direct CDP connections.
No. Each profile can only be open on one of your machines at a time; this corresponds to API error code 4012.
Error code 4003 means the current machine is at capacity; waiting will resolve it. Error code 4008 means your subscription's concurrent browser quota is exhausted — waiting won't help; you need to add more quota.
